Some people are comfortable in their own skin. Some people are naturally funny. some people are confident in what they do. You my man are all three plus a master musician. That makes you one cool customer. Come back to Clearwater and play The Capital Theater real soon. We will be there.

The family watched "The Union" together the other night. It was cool to see how you make the magic. What I never knew (but suspected) was how damned funny Leon is. I remember going to his concerts in the '70s and getting THAT look. I felt like his eyes burned right through me. Now I know that was an act. I'm glad Elton did not hurt you during the making of the album - I was a little nervous for you but you came out just swell. Thanks for all the music. WE ALL JUST LOVE LEON!

Hi Leon,
I'm married to your 2nd cousin Rodger Williams, his dad & family from Lawton, OK, he met you years ago at a family re-union before you became famous. Just want to say I watched "The Union" on HBO, You & Elton were great, loved the show. |

My husband and I saw you in concert in Berkeley, California in 1973. It was during the oil crisis, and gasoline was rationed--gas lines were long, and you could only buy gas on even or odd days, and only if you were down more than half a tank. We had to carefully plan to have enough gas to make the trip across the bay. Needless to say, it was well worth the planning, an unforgettable experience. And now, having just seen the documentary about The Union, I find I am still under your spell. You are undiminished by time, a Master of the Universe for certain.

I love all of your music, but I'd do anything to get a new copy of Asylum choir II. Mine is worn out and I can't find another one anywhere. Thanks for all the years of great music

Dear Mr. Russell, I am sure you get tired hearing this but I just have to tell you how much your music means to me. I truly believe you are the greatest musician this world has ever seen.
My personal favorite song is "Laying Right Here in Heaven" from "Will O' the Wisps" and everytime I listen to it, if always puts a smile on my face. Thank you for the many years of great music and here's to many more! |

Thanks to Elton John for getting Leon out of the "ditch along the highway of life." It is obvious that Elton was deeply touched by Leon's generosity to him in the beginning of his career. Love "I should have sent you roses." It makes me cry every time. Please stay well.

I was lucky enough to be married to an awful man once who introduced me to Leon Russell's music. Only good thing about him. Then I moved to Tulsa and found out Leon was from there too. People there really "get" Leon and I was lucky enough to see him live at the Brady and at some outdoor venues!!! First time I ever stood up in a chair to listen to anyone.
Mr. Russell, you are such a talented individual. I want you to know that the sounds of your music have been with me through some awful times. And those sweet, spirited, unusual mixes kept me in a sweet spot over and over. With such sweetness coming out of my cd player, and my record player...how could things not turn out right for me? I am now one of the happiest women ever born, with a wonderful husband and family and your music, beautiful voice, and astounding arrangements helped me get here. You are just one of the best ever. Love to you and your family. And thank you kindly. |

I just love, love, love you Leon Russell!!!! Your music was the 1st music I ever bought, which was an 8 track tape of your 1st solo album "Leon Russell", to play in my 1st car I ever had. You could take the 8 track console out and put it into the 8 track base my parents had in our home, playing your music in my car and in my home!! I was only 15 years old then, the summer of 1970. Three months before my 16th birthday I got my lerner's permit to drive, 41 years ago. Yes, that is how long ago it was, buying an 8 track tape, lmao!! The songs you sang on "Leon Russell" was so powerful to me I had to purchase it. I played it all of the time and loved every second of it!! Your music touched me so deeply and I thought you were the best looking man alive and you could sing so magically!! I also saw you in the Bangladash Movie when it came out, which I loved you singing "Jumpin Jack Flash" and "Youngblood", great music!! I even saw one of your concerts in Memphis, Tennessee at Gibson's Lounge on Nov. 11, 2006. I think your daughter was singing on stage with you. I bought a t-shirt of you wearing a top hat of course, which I still have and haven't even worn it (want to keep your picture in tact), and you also signed a CD I had of you, which was a fantastic and awesome experience for me, getting to meet you!! I just wanted you to know that I very much idolized your music and no-one could top your great expertise and style in the music business, in my opinion. I truly mean this with all of my heart!! You have given me such great joy listening to all of your music and great memories of my teenage years. I didn't even know until I saw "The Union" earlier tonight on HBO, that you have written so many, many wonderful and beautiful songs for other singers and set in sessions for many other bands during the movie, which Elton John was telling and showing the albums of different singers and bands you had collaborated with over the years before starting your own band. I truly admire you even more now. I should have known this because you are so brilliant on the piano and at your songwriting skills!! I will definitely be purchasing this new album, "The Union". I enjoyed this movie, "The Union", very much. I am so very proud of you being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 14, 2011 and was given an Award of Recording Excellence and also inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame on June 16, 2011!! You definitely deserve it, long time overdue!! Good for you!! Yeah Leon!! Way to go, I love you man!!!! I also found out looking at your website that "If It Wasn't For Bad", the first single from "The Union" CD, was nominated for a Grammy Award at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. I'm sure this was exciting for you and Elton. I am proud of this achievement for the both of you also. I guess I would not have known about your inductions if it had not been for Elton John and yourself releasing the HBO movie, "The Union" and your website, which I will be checking out more often. I thank you for doing this album with Elton John. I have loved you in the past and still love you now Leon. Your age doesn't matter, it's your voice (love your sound), your music, your style, your whole rythem sound playing the piano, and also the way you compose the whole band and your final opinions and decisions which makes your music that matters!!!! These are the reasons Elton John idolized you, like myself. Keep on keeping on, because so many of us still love you and your music, but take time to rest too, for your health. Again, I am so very proud that you got the recognition you so truly deserve. Love you Leon!!!! I know this is a long email, but I feel as though I have to tell you this. I hope you do get this email and would love to hear from you to make sure you did receive it and to hear from you from time to time. You seem like family after all of these years. Your music listener and follower always, Alesia
